Time: 7:00 p.m. Queen Chairmen: Melissa Clapper and Valerie Caster Pageant Rules 1. Contestants must be a single woman between 16-22 years old. 2. Contestants must not have children, be pregnant, or, if chosen as the 2009 National Hamburger Festival Queen, become pregnant during her reign. 3. Contestants should not have any visible tattoos or body piercings exposed during the pageant, or when representing the National Hamburger Festival as the Queen or a court member. 4. The 2009 National Hamburger Festival Queen and Court Members will conduct themselves in a manner that reflects a good moral character, kindness, and respect. This includes no smoking, drinking, using foul or indecent language, and showing overly outward public displays of affection, while representing the National Hamburger Festival. 5. Contestants should wear formal attire the day of the pageant. Queen and Court Members may wear formal or semi-formal dress throughout their attendance at the festival. 6. The 2009 National Hamburger Festival Queen must be able to commit to at least 1 hour of festival time after the pageant on July 18, and at least 3 hours of festival time on Sunday July 19. This time will include assisting in the 2008 National Hamburger Festival Baby Burger Contest. 7. Court Members will also be needed to assist in the 2009 National Hamburger Festival Baby Burger Contest on July 20. 8. In the case that the 2009 National Hamburger Festival Queen can no longer meet these requirements, the 1st runner up will assume the Queen position until the 2010 National Hamburger Festival. 9. An interested contestant must print, complete and drop off their application by July 10, 2009. All applications MUST BE SIGNED PRIOR TO THE START OF THE PAGEANT, and any contestant under the age of 18 must have a parent signature. 10. Contestants will need to visit our website at www.hamburgerfestival.com for information on the history of the hamburger. Contestants will also need to be familiar with the 4 major family claims to the invention of the hamburger and be prepared to answer a question on stage. All information asked in the pageant will be taken directly from the website.
